The Party Pad

So, in case you didn't know, I have decided to accept a year long internship with SpringHill Camps Indiana where I will be a staff recruiter for both this and next summer. I am contracted to be working here until August of 2012 and am really looking forward to it. God has really been preparing me throughout this process and I have been blessed to have the Christian influences and friends here surrounding me. Even though one of my good friends will be leaving (who I am filling in for), this is a good opportunity for both he and his wife to move back closer to some family.

It's nice to see this every morning!
As of right now, I am holding up in what we call our 'Tree Houses.' I am in Tree House #4 and needless to say, it is my party pad. I have enjoyed the experiences of new smells a house may bring, mice in the walls, and cockroaches falling on me from the ceiling in my sleep. You know, typical new house things. Regardless, I am very blessed to have an opportunity to stay employed for another year with this ministry before I embark on any new adventures.

"The Party/Bachelor Pad"
This has been cleaned up...

All around, I love my job. Even though it is definitely tough at times to say no to potential candidates, I understand that my responsibilities as a spiritual leader are to help fulfill and further prepare our Father's kingdom in any way possible. So, that is at least comforting to know that I can say I am truly doing something that will help spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Here are some pictures of the cockroach (a.k.a. 'Roachie'), and a battle-wound from working on the resident staff office! I was put in charge of tearing all of this down this week and I like to think that I did a good job. I will be sure to post when I have finished the rest of the work.

My Immune System Failed Me...

So, I have been trying to avoid this cough/flu for the past two weeks. I seemed to be doing a good job at avoiding but this week, it finally caught me. I first survived Sarah and Anna's first wave of attack. Next was mom. It was difficult but I managed to avoid her bug as well. Next is what I think finally did me in. I had a day in the office with a company I have been interviewing with for the past two weeks. The girl I spent the day with also had this cough/flu... she gave it to me. Finally, I have started to feel a little better and decided to go to a movie with my friend, who also had the cough/flu. She made it worse... Thanks a lot immune system. I had so much faith in you until now.

I guess if there was one thing that I could take positive from this experience, I would say that The Price is Right on Facebook showed pity on me tonight, allowing me to win both showcases. Taking $76,000 dollars of prize money from them felt pretty good.

What now Drew Carey? I own you.

The dreaded job hunt...

I figured that since I am now done with school, I can now start doing some more blogging so that you all will be able to keep up with my life!

This past Friday, I had a job interview in Columbus, OH and it actually went very well. Even though this doesn't currently seem to be the right fit for me, it was nice to just have some interviewing experience. I have another interview this coming Thursday so I am definitely looking forward to seeing how that one goes. This next interview is located in Indianapolis and seems like it is going to be a pretty cool company.

Overall, this past week was very productive. I was able to find some different leads through a connection with Purdue which will help me out in this grueling, not so fun time. Surprisingly, I am not worried about this at all. I know I am going to find something. I just want to make sure that I make the right decision for me and not just settle.

Either way, there are a few perks...
-It's very nice to not have to go to school anymore
-I am now a Purdue Alumni
-Someone is going to finally pay me for my educated brain

Timbuk2 D-Lux Messenger Bag 15"

This bag is sweet!

I wanted to get this bag due to the fact that I love working at camp! It is a great bag for if I were to get caught in some costly weather where all of my materials would be ruined. There are about 6-7 pockets on this bag (haven't found them all yet) including a love glove that fits my 07' MacBook Pro perfectly. The bag is made out of "bomb-proof ballistic nylon" so it cannot be destroyed except by God himself... or fire. Anyways, the whole inside of this bag is made out of what I like to call "blob material." For those of you that have been on a blob, that is the type of material... COMPLETELY WATERPROOF! Another new feature that this bag has on it is the Timbuk2 clamp. It is a great feature for where you can set to your preference where you would like for the bag to set on your back. It is completely adjustable. If you find your favorite spot (your clamp spot), you set it and your done! But wait, there's more!!! If for some reason the bag is extremely heavy and you don't want to take it off with a limited amount of space to get your arm and head through, there is a clip that you just simply un-clip and you have more space to maneuver and take the bag off. Once you are done, simply clip back together and slip over your head!

Perks of the bag:
-Bomb-Proof
-Bullet-Proof
-Water-Proof
-Can hold a small child
-Pretty sure it turns you into a chic magnet!

Great bag!! Recommended to everyone!!

That's basically it... Just figured that I would upload a few pics for everyone.

ENOUGH NAGGING!

Well I guess that since I am the youngest of the family, I seem to get left out on some stuff. You know left out on when so and so is coming home, left out on creating a blog...

Sarah, Phil, and Emily were the first to create this thing, then Rachael and Brad got married...grew up (not literally), and then created one as well. So by this time I was getting annoyed of hearing from people saying LUKE GET A BLOG!! I said I would do it later just like I do with my homework...

But then MOM AND DAD, the most tech savvy people that you will ever meet created a blog, and then you guessed right...I FELT WAY OUTTA THE LOOP!

However, I am growing in my technological experiences through being a big bad freshman at Purdue University, where I get made fun of by 43 year old grown men in my computer class...kinda weird though. Shouldn't I be the one making fun of them, for being in my class when I am only 18? Mom says no...

So, here you go everyone!!! This is the blog...THE BEST BLOG EVER! And I hope that our families will grow and form into a strong bond of love, don't cry Brad...

I love you guys and can't wait to see you all on CHRISTMAS!!!
